Not long ago, in a Wave not far from here, just four tabs over in my browser actually, I opened up a dialog with over a dozen or so denizens of the design community about the coming year.
I initially polled the participants with a single question, and then followed up with a few short answer inquiries to boot. And I wanted to bring the heart of that discussion here.
I started off asking about our ability, as an online community, to effectively plot the course ahead for the coming year. I followed up with three other questions that fit into this idea of where we are going in 2010, both as a community, and as individuals within our industries. I felt that I wanted to further this dialog and get more people talking about these things, so I have brought the questions to the blog to get your two cents on these queries.
Do you think that all of us, as an online collective, can shape the future directions of design?
This was the poll question, which received a total of 16 replies, showing a near unanimous consensus that we do have the ability as an online community to direct just where the design community goes in the coming year. This is an empowering position, and I agree that we have an opportunity to shape this field we love so much in 2010. The follow-ups help to expand a bit on this initial idea, so if you feel up to it, please take a minute and share what your thoughts are on those as well.
